Small Groups Introduction

small-groupWelcome to the Small Group Ministry of Redeemer Lutheran Church.  You may already be familiar with the idea of small groups as this concept has had a lot of attention over the last 20 years or more in growing churches.  Here at Redeemer, we made a radical shift awhile back to become a Disciple Making Church.  We believe the process of becoming a Disciple of Jesus happens best within the context of a small group of people.  While each small group may be distinct, there are a few things that characterize our groups as Disciple making.  The group should be a safe place where each individual feels a sense of Christian community, where they can know others and be known.  It’s a place where grace is received and practiced. Group members read scriptural truths and discuss how to apply these truths in their own context.  The small group functions as the Body of Christ by encouraging, comforting, challenging, and praying for each other. The model is Biblical.  Jesus drew a handful of followers into an intimate circle, where they learned, by example, life-giving lessons.  So if you really want to learn how to live out the Christian life, I invite you to try a small group.
