Community Good Friday Service At Damascus UMC (12:00 - noon - 3:00 pm)

Community Good Friday Service at Damascus UMC from Noon—3:00 PM

Damascus United Methodist Church will host a special Ecumenical Vigil of the Cross service for the community.  The service will be a series of seven meditations on the Seven Last Words of Christ beginning at noon, with each meditation lasting twenty-five minutes, and the Vigil concluding at 3:00 pm.  Clergy from area churches will be offering meditations and serving as liturgists.  You are invited to come for the entire Vigil, or to attend as many of the twenty-five minute services as you desire.  Pastor Ray will be participating in this service at 2:30 PM.

Sharing The Fruit: Sisters In Faith

The 10th Sisters In Faith conference, jointly sponsored by Redeemer Lutheran and Montgomery Methodist, was held on March 13th. Ellie Lofaro, national speaker and author, spoke on the theme "Growing Up and Going Deep". Over three hundred women from 83 congregations attended the conference.

Over sixty ladies from Redeemer attended. We would like to take this opportunity for a follow-up discussion on what we learned. This is also a chance for those women who missed the conference to hear some of Ellie's key lessons.

Are you willing to be a mentor to a man or woman who is being released from Montgomery County Correctional Facility (Clarksburg Jail)?  We need spiritual mentors to walk alongside inmates being released back into Montgomery County life.

Classes will take place on Saturdays at Pre- Release and Reentry Services (PRRS), 11651 Nebel St., Rockville.

Meet at the church at 9:30 AM.  We will be going to the Country and Drug Store Museum at 10 S. Main Street in Mt. Airy (at 10:00 AM).  This is the original early 1900s drug store, original soda fountain and post office. Shelves are stacked with collections of original country and drug store items.
